About "Find Low Book Prices"
History
It all started when I was tired of being ripped off by my university's bookstore. Another semester of school was about to start and I knew the prices they were charging were way too high. Instead of paying far too much for my textbooks, I went in to the bookstore and wrote down the ISBN numbers of each of the books that I needed for the semester.
Upon arriving home, I proceeded to enter each ISBN number into a variety of different websites in an effort to determine where I should order my books from. While price was not the only factor that went into my decision making process (there is something to be said about the reputation of a site) it was a major one and there were a few different sites that I would have been more than comfortable enough to order from. During this process, I thought to myself that there should be an easier way to compare book prices from multiple sites and came up with the idea to build the site you are browsing today.
While the original intent of this site was for it to be used in searching for textbook prices, it can be also be used to find the best price for any book with an ISBN number.
Usage/Functionality
The original purpose of this site is not so much to be a shopping site, but rather to check that you're getting the best price after having decided to purchase a book. However, we have implemented the functionality to search by either Title or Author to make it easier for you to find the book you are looking for.
When viewing the results of a given title, click on any of the colored text (item numbers, prices, etc) to be taken to the vendor's page for that particular item/price. This makes it easy to purchase at the prices you find here. Those links do point to websites that we are not in control of and (especially because the links are always changing) we cannot be held responsible for the content on those pages. Also, the links that take you to pages outside of this site are designed to open in a new window so that you don't lose your place here at "Find Low Book Prices".
After your initial search, you will likely see a "Recently Viewed Books" section at the bottom of each page. This will list your ten most recent searches by both ISBN and Title with the most recent on top. These results are clickable and will take you directly to the results page for that book. This functionality is implemented by using cookies, but this and remembering your search method (ISBN, Title, Author) are the only purposes for which we use cookies.
